Second view of Fronville; animated farm with a shelter of branches
Black stone and stump, annotated and dated by another hand lower right in pen and brown ink F. Boucher 1761 (slightly insolated, pasted on an old mount).
31.5 x 47 cm
In an antique Louis XVI carved and giltwood frame.

This landscape from the early 1760s was engraved by William Wynne Ryland when he came to Paris to take lessons from Le BAS and Boucher. Later appointed engraver to the King of England, this singular character was implicated in a case of counterfeit money and was sentenced to death by hanging.
Another sheet in the same technique, dating from around 1755-58, is in the Albertina in Vienna (A. LAING, Les dessins de François BOUCHER, New York, FRICK Collection, 2003,
No. 91, repr.).
