Oblong leporello album, printed on silk; 18 leaves, measuring 262 x 220 mm, unfolding to approximately 3.96 metres. A 20th-century Chinese reproduction based on the famous 12th-century painting known as ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’. A fine reproduction of one of the most famous masterpieces of ancient Chinese painting, unfolding, in a continuous composition rich in narrative detail, genre scenes, architecture, boats and urban life during the Qingming Festival. The accordion-fold format successfully recreates the panoramic effect of the original work and emphasises its spectacular scale. A decorative and attractive copy, reflecting the modern dissemination of a great classic of Chinese art. In very good condition internally, with minor snags to the silk on the covers.
