Description
CORRESPONDENCE FROM MALTA ISLAND OF MALTA. Correspondence in the 17th century between the Island of Malta and France. An exceptional collection of 21 handwritten letters concerning the acquisition of a ‘Maison du Temple’ in Toulouse belonging to the Order of the Temple, the usufruct of which was granted to Duke Henri II de Montmorency. This correspondence is addressed to Gilles le Mazuyer, First President of the Parliament of Toulouse from 1615 to 1631, and dates from between 1620 and 1622. Some of these letters have water stains at the bottom of the margins; in a few cases, the text has been affected, though it remains legible nonetheless. A comprehensive historical and explanatory document of four pages, containing very precise details, is enclosed. Further information available on request
