1/ – La Fontaine’s Fables for Babies. – Paris, Librairie de Théodore Lefèvre et Émile Guérin, n.d. [1886]. Large quarto, publisher’s red percaline, elaborate gilt decoration on the front cover, gilt edges, a few rare foxing spots – [24 ff.], 22 plates, vignette on the title page. Binding in very fresh condition.
2/ - A Short Journey through France. Informal, instructive and amusing conversations on the wonders of science and industry. By a Father. - Paris, Garnier Frères, n.d. [1880]. Large quarto, publisher’s red percaline, large gilt design on the front cover, gilt edges – corners and clamps slightly rubbed – [24 ff.], engravings by Walker and Kermabon: frontispiece and 42 vignettes in the text. Three children travel around France. They discover the railway and the telegraph; in Limoges, porcelain manufacturing; in Lyon, the silk industry; in Mâcon, the grape harvest; and in Le Creusot, the blast furnaces and the mine.

Large quarto, publisher’s red percaline, elaborate gilt decoration on the front cover, gilt edges, minor, insignificant discolouration on the board - [24 ff.], 41 colour engravings, including 11 full-page illustrations by Farnion, Morin, Erlier, Perrichon, Joliet… Part of the ‘Bibliothèque de bébé’ collection. Contains: Puss in Boots, Donkey Skin, Little Red Riding Hood, Riquet with the Tuft, Tom Thumb, Cinderella, Bluebeard, The Fairies, Ridiculous Wishes, Beauty and the Beast.
4/ - Mme de Villeblanche – Mès. – *Les Petites Filles peintes par elles-mêmes*. Paris, Bernardin-Béchet, 1879. Publisher’s red percaline, gilt decoration on the front cover, gilt edges – caps and corners rubbed, two black stains on the back cover, foxing – 72 pp., 8 lithographs as inserts by Mès. The proud one, the indiscreet one, the chatterbox, the whinger, the coquette, the sulker, the glutton, the capricious one. How eight little girls will be cured of their faults.
