"S.G.D.G. patented Alphabet Dominoes". French domino set, 19th century (c. 1870), made of ebony and bone, two recessed circular medallions feature printed coloured designs: one showing the 26 letters of the alphabet with examples of syllables or words, the other an illustrated motif. Comprising 28 dominoes: the 26 letters plus 2 for the title, accents and punctuation. Mahogany box with one side missing. The letter ‘C’ has a small chip in the bone. Apart from the box, overall condition: 8/10 – Rarity: 5/5.
