A collection of works illustrated by Pierre Alechinsky on the theme of alphabet books. 1/ - Piqueray, Marcel and Gabriel - Alechinsky, Pierre. *Monument Tobacco*. Alphabet book. Paris, Éditions Yves Rivière, 1978. Folio-sized, loose-leaf volume with a typographic cover – [24 pp.]. Texts by Marcel and Gabriel Piqueray, with full-page illustrations of an alphabet drawn by Pierre Alechinsky. First edition printed in a run of 750 numbered copies; this is one of the 660 (unjustified). The Piqueray twins, Belgian surrealists, were close to the artists of the CoBrA movement and collaborated with many of them. 2/ - Alechinsky, Pierre - Butor, Michel - Sicard, Michel. - ABC de Correspondance. Paris, Galerie Maeght, Repères, Daniel Lelong Editeur, 1986. In-4, paperback, illustrated softback cover in colour – 95 pp., [2 pp.]. First edition of this work comprising two parts: 1°/ “Dessins sur factures”. An alphabetical collection based on images and impressions inspired by a series of drawings by Alechinsky created on 18 old invoices. For each letter, four poetic musings through the prism of these two writers’ imaginations. 2°/ – “Grosses en stock”. An analysis of Alechinsky’s drawings created on letters. A sort of introspection into the drawn page and its relationship to the written word. A total of 37 drawings in India ink and wash, including 13 in colour (including the cover). A print run of 1,000 copies on Centaure Ivoire paper; this is copy no. 372. 3/ - Dumayet, Pierre - Alechinsky, Pierre. - Abécédaire A Z.S.l., Travioles, 2005.
