Gallo, [Luis Garcia]. – *The Alphabet of the Sea* [c. 1950]. Folio, loose sheets. Original layout executed in gouache on Canso paper (38.2 x 30 cm). Complete with the title (handwritten signature in pencil) and all 26 letters depicting a variety of subjects including fish, crustaceans, seaweed and protozoa… A framed space in the margin was presumably intended to accommodate a brief descriptive note. This collection, which appears never to have been published, is reminiscent of M. Méheut and his *Étude de la mer*. Enclosed is a black-and-white portrait of the author, in the same format, taken in front of the layout for this book.
