Oblong format (17.6 x 37.5 cm) in loose sheets within a publisher’s slipcase with the title in gold lettering on the spine – slipcase slightly sun-faded – [30 folios, title page, preface, alphabet book, colophon]. Illustrated with 27 hand-coloured lithographs (title page and 26 words corresponding to the 26 letters). Printed in an edition of 300 copies; this is one of the 50 hand-coloured copies (no. 7/50), signed by the artist and the author of the preface. Rare first edition.
