Description
A collection of drawings, caricatures and bookplates. 1/ - Cham: 6 wash drawings depicting scenes from military life. 2/ - 11 engraved bookplates. 3/ - Bellaigue, J.-C.: 2 drawings, including 1 in colour. 4/ - A sketchbook containing 64 caricatures, generally relating to high society life in Paris in the 1950s and 1960s (artist unknown). 5/ - ‘Pourvu qu’elles tiennent’. A series of 8 engraved plates, captioned and dated 5 March 1917. The title may be modelled on that of Forain’s ‘Pourvu qu’ils tiennent’. The work is dedicated to Lise Hirtz. Lise Deharme (née Hirtz, 1898–1980), a novelist and poet associated with the Surrealist movement and muse to André Breton (Lise Meyer in *Nadja*). Two drawings are enclosed.
