[Ozenfant, Amédée, Editor] – ‘L’Élan’ magazine. Series header for issues 1 to 9 (out of 10 published). From 15 April 1915 to 1 July 1915 (12 pp. for issues 1 to 4 and 16 pp. for issues 5 and 6); publication resumed in 20 pp. on 15 December 1915 (No. 7), then in January 1916 (No. 8), and February 1916 (No. 9). The missing issue (No. 10) did not appear until December 1916 in folio format, comprising 4 pp. Printed in a run of 1,000 copies. – A Cubist, modernist journal featuring innovative typographical experiments. Illustrated by A. Ozenfant, André Lhote, Jean Laboureur, André Derain, Dunoyer de Segonzac, Jean Marchand, Léwitzka, Maximilien Volochine, Zina Ozenfant, Mainssieux … Some plates and covers are in colour, enhanced with stencils, and occasionally spread across a double page. It includes a poem by Apollinaire and reproductions of Cubist works by Picasso. Bound in green half-maroquin with a smooth spine and gilt title. A very fine publication
