Paris, Fisher Fils et Cie, s.d. (ca. 1838-40). 3 parts bound in one volume in-4, contemporary half calf with corners, smooth spine decorated with romantic gilt irons. Some rubbing and wear, discrete restorations, scattered foxing.
First edition and first print run of this work profusely illustrated with metal engravings after drawings by Thomas Allom made on the spot: 2 title-frontispices, 2 maps, one of which on a double page, and 93 plates out of text printed on strong paper: palace interiors, mosques, monuments, Muslim scenes, street scenes, cemeteries, views of the surroundings of Constantinople, etc.
