First edition. Louis Charrier de La Roche (1738-1827) was first bishop of Rouen and then vicar to the archbishop of Lyon. A representative of Lyon at the Estates General and a deputy at the National Assembly, he took an oath to the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. He then became a baron of the Empire and chaplain to Napoleon I.
