Binding damaged with tears and lacks, scattered foxing, paper slightly curled, wetness affecting more the last 6 ff.
First edition decorated with 1 title-page vignette by Macret, 1 dedication vignette with royal arms by Pruneau, 2 header vignettes by Lainé, two culs-de-lampe by Macret & Pruneau, and 11 plates by Dupuis, some folded, and a final figure by Van Blaremberg.
Drummond de Melfort, Lieutenant-General of the King's armies, was Inspector-General of the Troupes Légères. Without the frontispiece or the atlas entitled Marches et évolution de cavalerie comprising 32 double plates.
