Capitals damaged, front cover split at the mouth, scuffing and wear, water damage to the frontispiece and title page, restoration and small tears with no loss to certain plates, creases. Frontispiece depicting the Education of Achilles with a portrait of Louis XV in a medallion; a vignette bearing the arms of Charles de Lorraine, Count of Armagnac, to whom the work is dedicated, and 23 plates by Charles Parrocel, engraved in intaglio by J. Audran, Aveline, Beauvais, L. Cars, Coquart, N. Dupuis, J.-P. Lebas, L. Desplaces and Tardieu. First folio edition, the most sought-after.
