Description
[JOHANNOT (Alfred)] Set of 5 framed lithographic plates taken from P.A. Aubert’s *Traité raisonné d’équitation*, published in Paris by the author and Ancelin & Gaultier-Laguionne in 1836. Plates (view size): approx. 26.5 x 42.5 cm.
Plate XII: On Spurs.
Plate XIX: On the Pillars.
Plate XXII: On School Exercises. View of the Riding School of the Royal Military Academy directed by Chevalier d’Auvergne, 1788.
Plate XXXI: On the walk on the haunches or two tracks.
Plate XXXVI: On high school exercises. View of the Royal Riding School, then located on Rue Cadet and directed by Mr Augte Pellier, 1827. Tear on the left restored.
"The text volume is fairly rare, but the plates, published as loose sheets, have been scattered and are even rarer. The edition was out of print long before Aubert’s death, and he repeatedly expressed his intention to publish a new edition, but this project was never carried out” Mennessier de La Lance, I, 38.
