FROMENTIN, Eugène. Dominique. The pre-original edition of the author’s masterpiece, published in the *Revue des Deux Mondes* in three instalments, here collected in a single volume, with the original covers and spine preserved. Paris, *Revue des Deux Mondes*, 1862. 3 instalments in 1 in-8 volume, Bradel-bound in mottled brown paper, plain spine with brown leather title label, untrimmed, covers and spine preserved, in a cream half-maroquin slipcase with bands and a bordered rear panel. pp. 778–824, 144–193 and 385–444. Spine very slightly browned and minimal scuffing to the binding. Pre-original edition of the masterpiece by Eugène Fromentin (1820–1876), a partly autobiographical novel published in three instalments (15 April, 1 May and 15 May 1862) in the *Revue des Deux Mondes*; the work was not published in book form until 1863. The text of this first printing contains numerous variations compared with the original book edition. A very fine copy, in exceptionally good condition, preserved in a slipcase and cover.5
