XIV and 572 pp. Spine sun-faded, a few scuff marks, corners and edges rubbed, foxing mainly on the first and last leaves. First edition of this famous essay, published anonymously whilst Victor Hugo was in exile. Handwritten bookplate on the endpaper by Guy Patard. A good copy.
