In-12, midnight blue half-maroquin with corner caps, spine with two false raised bands framing the gilt title and decorated with a mosaic pattern of blue-grey and brown maroquin depicting two graves at the foot of a tree in the moonlight, gilt headband, untrimmed, original covers preserved. Binding signed ‘Flammarion’. 283 pp. Corners very slightly scuffed. This baroque detective novel, which transports us to Istanbul during the final days of the Ottoman Empire’s splendour, was first published in 1907. A fine binding signed by Flammarion for this utterly charming copy.
