[CYCLING]. *Le Cycle*. A specialist weekly journal on cycling. Nos. 1–26. A rare collection of the first 26 issues of one of the major 19th-century French weekly journals devoted to cycling. Paris, publisher unknown [printed by Lahure], 29 August 1891–20 February 1892. 26 issues in 1 volume, large quarto, ebony-coloured glazed half-basane, ribbed spine. Stamped ‘Fouget-Coulon’. 336 pp., numerous black-and-white illustrations in the text and as inserts. Scuffs and some wear to the binding; spine re-dyed; paper yellowed at the margins. Founded in 1891, *Le Cycle* quickly established itself as one of the leading French weekly magazines devoted to cycling. Louis Baudry de Saunier (1865–1938) was one of its first editors-in-chief. Each issue features reports on the major road and track races, technical columns, information on mechanical innovations, cycling clubs and the latest news from manufacturers. In good condition.
