DUMAS fils. *The Lady of the Camellias*. A play in five acts, with songs. A copy with a dedicatory inscription, formerly owned by the actress Augustine Duverger, in a full Duseuil binding. Paris, Michel Lévy, 1860. In-12, full midnight blue morocco, spine with raised bands richly decorated, covers decorated in the Duseuil style with a central gilt monogram ‘A.D.’, gilt interior lace, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché caps, gilt edges. 105 pp. Stains and white marks on the covers, worn joints, a few small foxing spots. New edition. On the frontispiece, a photographic portrait of the author (printed on albumen paper with a stamp from the Mariannecci studio in Rome). Handwritten bookplate dated 1953. Copy enhanced by a dedication from Dumas fils, dated May 1863, ‘to Augustine Duverger, a grateful woman brought back to life’, whose real name was Julie Joséphine Augusta Vaultrain de Saint Urbain, an actress of the time. A fine copy in a full binding bearing the monogram of Augustine Duverger.
