In-8, blue half-maroquin, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed, covers preserved (front cover illustrated). Binding by Pagnant. 63 pp., black-and-white illustrations in the text and as inserts. Minor scuffs from wear to the binding; spine very slightly sun-faded. First edition of these fables, humorously reworked and delightfully illustrated by Eugène Privaz. One of the copies printed on Holland laid paper, unnumbered but ‘printed in a small run’. Large ‘A. Rodelet’ bookplate on the inside front cover. A fine copy, complete with its colour-illustrated cover, in a fine later signed binding.
