CLAUDEL, Paul. Five Great Odes followed by a processional to welcome the new century. Paris, Bibliothèque de l’Occident, 1910. Small folio, paperback, cover printed in three colours (gold, blue and red). 171 pp. The first and last pages are browned, with very slight foxing. A largely original edition of this major collection from the works of Paul Claudel (1868–1955). In five poems, inspired by ancient Greek odes, he celebrates his existential and spiritual evolution. The first ode appeared as early as 1905 in the *Bibliothèque de L’Occident*. A single print run of 215 numbered copies on Arches laid paper (no. 145). In fine condition.
