BARBEY D'AUREVILLY, Jules. *Le Chevalier des Touches*. Paris, Michel Lévy Frères, 1864. In-12, brown half-shagreen, ribbed spine, panels decorated with fleurs-de-lis. 282 pp. A few rare foxing spots. First edition, not printed on large-format paper. Inspired by the life of Jacques Destouches, a hero of the Chouannerie, this novel was first published as a serial in the newspaper *Le Nain Jaune*. Included is a press clipping on the television adaptation of the novel (Le Figaro, 24–245 March 1979). Handwritten ex-libris by Guy Patard. [Vicaire, I, 303] A fine copy in a good later binding decorated with fleurs-de-lis, a nod to the anti-revolutionary character and to the author, a fervent supporter of the monarchy.
