Description
BAC, Ferdinand. Signed autograph letter addressed to [Abel Bonnard]. A letter expressing praise and admiration: “One day, people will know who you are”. 2 pages, in-12 format, pasted onto 2 postcards featuring photographic views of La Rivière and its château. Thomery (Seine-et-Marne), 3 August 1925. At the request of Madame Edmond Fabre-Luce, owner of the Château de la Rivière, the writer and artist Ferdinand Bac (1859–1952) recounts the admiring remarks he had made the previous day regarding an article by Abel Bonnard on Morocco. “You are one of the spiritual miracles of our ignoble times. Listening to you, reading your words, one senses a man from another planet, full of depth, beauty, dignity and inspiration. At last, something almost unbelievable. And yet it is you, very much alive, a solitary figure amongst the cannibals.” In the 1920s, Abel Bonnard undertook numerous journeys. In 1927, he published *Au Maroc*, a compilation of articles that had appeared in *La Revue de Paris*.
