[IVORY COAST] ANGOULEVANT, Gabriel. The Pacification of the Ivory Coast. 1908–1915. Methods and Results. Paris, Larose, 1916. 8vo, brown glazed half-basane with corner pieces, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and garlands. XVII and 395 pp., 2 fold-out maps. Fine hairline cracks on the spine, minor wear and tear from use, paper slightly discoloured at the margins. First edition. Gabriel Angoulvant (1872–1932), colonial administrator and subsequently governor of the Ivory Coast from 1908 to 1915, describes the military operations and administrative methods implemented during his term of office. Preface by General Gallieni. Included is an autograph letter signed by the author to a friend (1 p., in-8, on printed letterhead of the General Government of the A.O.F. – Côte d’Ivoire, Bingerville, 18 August 1912) In good condition.
