First edition of this colourful autobiography of literary Paris. Copies on pure-thread paper, the finest quality available, bound in a uniform style. From the library of André Schuck.

3 in-8 volumes, each bound in burgundy morocco-stamped half-shagreen with corner caps, ribbed spines, gilt heads; covers and spines preserved. Bindings by Georges Gauché.
393, 349 and 397 pp., 3 frontispiece portraits by Picasso, Kisling and Pascin.
Caps and corners rubbed, slight scuffing at the top of the spine of the last volume.
Complete first edition in three volumes: First Period (1903–1908), Second Period (1908–1920) and Third Period (1920–1940). One of 36 (vol. 1) and 35 (vol. 2 and 3) numbered copies on Lafuma-Navarre pure-fibre vellum (nos. 21, 24 and 21), the only editions printed on large-format paper.
Bound at the end of volume 3 is the catalogue of the Lipschuzt bookshop, which André Salmon mentions in connection with Max Jacob’s correspondence.
From the library of the bibliophile André Schuck (1900–1985), bearing his bookplate engraved by Albert Decaris.
