An important 18th-century encyclopaedia of commerce, an expanded and revised edition by Thomas-Antoine de Marien. Amsterdam, published by D.J. Changuion, 1781. 2 tomes in 2 volumes in-4, each bound in brown half-calf, spine ribbed and highlighted with a double gilt fillet, gilt volume numbers and a black leather title label. VII and 619 pp., table of contents; 2 ff. without page numbers, XVI and 532 pp., table of contents. Normal wear and tear, the caps of volume I partially missing, corners blunt, a few foxing spots. An edition revised, reworked and expanded by Thomas-Antoine de Marien of this famous treatise by the Castres merchant Samuel Ricard (1637–1717), first published around 1700. A fine set.
