PROUST, Marcel. In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower. First edition on vellum of the second volume of *In Search of Lost Time*, for which Proust was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1919. Paris, Éditions de la Nouvelle revue française, 1918. Large 12mo, 4vo, cream vellum Bradel binding, smooth spine, black sheepskin title label, original covers preserved, Rhodoid. 443 pp. Covers slightly soiled with minor repairs, margins slightly trimmed. First edition on vellum bearing the ‘ready for printing’ stamp dated 30 November 1918. Incorrect reference to a ‘second edition’ on the cover; this is indeed the first edition, which had a total of six printings. From the library of the writer Paul Brach (1893–1939), with his handwritten bookplate on the front cover.
