Description
ILIAZD (Ilia Zdanevitch, dit), ÉLUARD (Paul) and GUINO (Michel). Un soupçon. Poem illustrated with drypoints by Guino, set to light by Iliazd. Paris, Le Degré Quarante et Un, [1965].
In-folio (43 x 33 cm) in folio, illustrated parchment cover on the first cover with the author's name in the centre in the form of a typographical play, publisher's cloth folder and slipcase.
16 original drypoints in colour by Guino, including one on the cover, a frontispiece and 14 in the text. Limited edition of 72 numbered copies. Ex. 64, one of 47 on Japon impérial, signed in pencil by Guino and Iliazd.
This unpublished poem was proposed by Éluard to Iliazd as a gesture of reconciliation following the "Soirée du Cœur à barbe". Iliazd considered it one of his most thoughtful works. According to Guino, it took two years to complete. Its large format, typoraphy and inventive layout bring out the poetic force of the text, with each verse printed on a single page and all but the last illustrated with a large drypoint. A very rare and fine copy with 2 plates of essays in a folder.
