In-4, publisher's black cloth with gilt decoration and title, decorated with a poychrome vignette pasted to the upper cover, in slipcase.
Full-page colour illustrations pasted on. Text by Roland Barthes followed by an extract from Erté's memoirs. Edition of 3000 numbered copies (no. 1349) on bluish laid paper, specially handmade at Pietro Miliani's mill in Fabriano.
Autograph signed letter from Erté on the title page. Enclosed is a black and white photograph of a vernissage attended by Erté. A fine copy.
A Franco-Russian illustrator and stylist, Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté (1892-1990) is famous for his emblematic Art Deco creations. His work included fashion designs for Harper's Bazaar and costumes for stage and screen.
