In-4, red chagrin, richly decorated smooth spine, large and beautiful gilt plates framed by a triple cold fillet interlaced on the boards, gilt edges, covers and spine preserved (Boutigny). Second illustrated edition. It includes 1 frontispiece, 16 large off-text vignettes on chine appliqué drawn by H. Vernet & H. Bellangé and 120 in-text figures. (Vicaire I, 324.) A superb copy, elegantly bound by Boutigny and on which he has reproduced, in the centre of each of the 2 covers, the 2 faces of the bronze medal representing Bonaparte, general-in-chief of the army of Egypt, made especially for this edition, engraved by Ch. Bovy and offered to the subscribers before the printing of the work.
