Artemidorus of Daldis, or Artemidorus of Ephesus, was a Greek writer and philosopher of the first century, famous for his 'Onirocriticism', a major work on the interpretation of dreams that influenced even Sigmund Freud. As a traveller and observer of the Greek world, he developed a systematic and quasi-scientific method for analysing dreams, which were considered to carry meaning and were sometimes predictive.
