Description
TURNER (Joseph Mallord William) & HUISH (Marcus Bourne). The Seine and the Loire illustrated by-sixty-one engravings in pure line after drawings by J. M. W. Turner. London, Virtue & Co, 1886.
In-folio, brown half-chagrin with corners, smooth spine decorated, double gilt fillet on covers decorated notably with the arms of Normandy, Ile de France, Champagne, Brittany, Anjou, and Burgundy, publisher's binding.
Numerous engraved plates, not collated. Based on Turner's watercolours, these engravings were first published under the title Turner's Annual Tour (London, Longman, Rees. Orme et al., 1833-1835). Introduction and descriptions by M. B. Huish, editor of "The Art Journal".
Rubbed, marginal spotting and traces of sunning on the binding, ex. detached and unfolded, a few scattered foxings.
