LE PRÉVOST (Auguste). Notice sur la châsse de Saint Taurin d'Evreux. Evreux, 1838.
Large in-8 half havana basane with small green vellum corners, smooth spine gilt filleted with cold fleurons, title page (contemporary binding). 61-[1] pp, [1] blank f., 3 plates. A few small brown spots.
"Among the monuments of the Middle Ages, there is none more precious to the friend of the arts than these shrines, these reliquaries, these more or less vast caskets in which all or part of the mortal remains of a holy person were exposed to the veneration of the faithful. Saint Taurin was the first preacher of the Christian faith to bring it to the territory of the Aulerci Eburovices and to exercise episcopal functions there. After his death he was buried, according to the custom of those remote centuries, outside the town of Evreux on the site of the church that still bears his name".
