In-12 of [5] ff, 354 pp, [1] f. [misfigured iii to viii and 7 to 354]. Bradel black half-maroquin with corners, gilt fillet on covers, finely decorated smooth spine, gilt title and author, date at end, gilt head, covers and spine preserved (spine lined with small tears) (Alfred Farez).
First edition of this scandalous work.
Of the original edition of 2200 copies, 480 copies that were at the brokers were destroyed by the author and the publisher following prosecution by the Parquet de la Seine.
No mention of the edition on the cover. As always, the back cover bears the date 1875.
