Description
Collective. Viseux. [14592] Madoura Gallery, Vallauris, 1981. Large in/4 booklet, black-and-white and colour illustrations, 12 folios. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1946, Claude Viseux (1927–2008) began his career as a painter: first with gestural paintings, then with instrumental paintings created using elastic bands coated in paint and snapped onto the canvas. In 1959, Claude Viseux stopped painting to devote himself entirely to sculpture, creating ‘active structures’ by combining pre-machined industrial components. In 1975, he was appointed head of the sculpture studio at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, a post he held until 1992.
