Painter, mosaic artist and master glassmaker, born in St Petersburg in 1907, the son of a musician, he accompanied his family to Switzerland and then to France, where he arrived in 1920. Thanks to his father’s influence, he was mentored by the ‘Greats’ (Matisse, Braque, Derain). He enrolled at André Lhote’s academy and took part in numerous exhibitions in both France and Switzerland, where he settled from 1942 onwards. This catalogue was published to mark a retrospective exhibition in 1988 at the Museum of Art and History in Neuchâtel.
