"Umberto Boccioni: Italian painter and sculptor, born on 19 October 1882 in Reggio Calabria and died on 16 August 1916 in Verona. In 1908, Umberto Boccioni met the poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in Milan, the founder of Futurism, whose manifesto was published on 20 February 1909. Boccioni then became the theorist of this artistic movement. In 1914, he published *Futurist Paintings and Sculptures*. Called up when war was declared, Boccioni died in 1916 as a result of a fall from a horse. After his death, Futurism as he conceived it took on a new form under the influence of horror.” (Eternel éclair website.)
