Rare first edition of the third voyage to Brazil by Auguste de Saint-Hilaire (1779-1853), French botanist and explorer. The account covers his exploration from Minas Gerais to the source of the Rio São Francisco and the province of Goiás (Goyaz).
From his travels, Saint-Hilaire brought back rich collections of plants, insects and various animals. He was professor of botany at the Faculté des Sciences in Paris, and many of his works and specimens are preserved at the Museum national d'Histoire naturelle.
