Description
SCALE MODEL (wood) — A display model of a 1930s French monoplane fighter, made from carved, filled and lacquered wood. Natural metal finish, low-set cantilever wing, fixed undercarriage in pant-style fairings, open cockpit with painted pilot, inline engine cowling with a three-bladed propeller. French cockades, rudder with a tricolour stripe bearing the number ‘6’ and the figure ‘10’. The fuselage bears the SPA 94 squadron’s ‘La Mort qui fauche’ emblem, painted in black. This emblem was inspired by that of the pilot André Martenot de Cordoux. Pilot André Herbelin adopted it on his Nieuport whilst serving with No. 102 Squadron as a personal emblem before it was adopted by the squadron as a whole. No stand. — Very good condition.
