SCALE MODEL (wood) — Display model of Georges Guynemer’s SPAD VII ‘Vieux Charles’, carved from wood, filled and lacquered. A First World War fighter biplane, with cream-coloured fabric covering giving a ribbed effect, equal-span wings with added struts and guy wires, an inline engine with a two-bladed wooden propeller, a fairing-covered wheeled undercarriage, and a pilot wearing a helmet, painted in the open cockpit. French cockades; rudder with a tricolour stripe bearing the inscription ‘S 254’. The fuselage bears the name ‘VIEUX CHARLES’, the red stork with outstretched wings of the ‘Escadrille des Cigognes’ and the number ‘2’ in red. No plinth. — Very good condition.
