PHALERISTICS FRANCE - MEDAL of the Mexican Campaign, NAPOLEON III 1862 / 1865 - CENTENARY edition commemorating the Oath of Camerone 1863 / 1963, special reissue based on Sacristain’s design for the Foreign Legion by Arthus Bertrand.
Diameter 29 mm – profile of Napoleon III wearing a laurel wreath, facing left - Reverse: “Mexican Expedition 1863 – 1863” Cumbres – Cerro Borrego – San Lorenzo – Puebla – Mexico City” – on the edge, the Arthus hallmark and the inscription ‘bronze’.
The ribbon, made of embroidered silk (the original ribbon from the 1863 medal), depicts a vulture holding an oath in its talons upon crossed green and red staffs.
