FRANCE – FOUR BANKNOTES – Complete series of the “FOUR-EURO BANKNOTES OF THE CITADEL OF BLAYE” (33) – Issued on 5 October 1996 to raise consumer awareness of the introduction of the new currency for the 15 European countries at the time. Issued and printed by ITVF (Imprimerie des timbres Poste de France / Périgueux), with the authorisation of the Banque de France, produced in collaboration with BNP Bank, the town of Blaye, the numismatic club and the town’s shopkeepers, who gave change using these notes to customers who accepted them. 1 euro, 3 euros, 5 euros and 10 euros, illustrations by the engraver Bernard Veyri.
