FRANCE – “COMPAGNIE des CHEMINS de FER DEPARTEMENTAUX” (*). RARE CAP in dark blue fabric with a stiff peak – In the centre, in silver canette embroidery, within a 42 mm circle, the company’s initials, the letters C F D, with the letters ‘F’ and ‘D’ inside the ‘C’ – below this, the employee’s rank: three stars in embroidered canette thread, one gold in the centre, the other two silver. – Below this, a black band with two gold borders, fastened by two metal buttons. – Black lining. - Size 62. - Circa 1930–50. ( * ) Compagnie des Chemins de Fer Départementaux: established on 4 August 1881 to build and operate railway lines, generally on metre gauge.
