FRANCE – circa 1880 – RARE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL PROFESSOR’S CAP. Black velvet with a flap, the flap shaped in the astrakhan style; the top is red, topstitched in 20 rays with a 36 mm round medallion in gold canetille at the centre - On the front, the same medallion; the two medallions joined by a double strand of braided gold canetille; in the centre, a wide 40 mm gold band. - Interior in brown leather and black fabric. On the base, stamped and embossed on the leather, the manufacturer’s mark: FONTAINE, Court Outfitter, 3 Boulevard du Palais, Paris. – Height 13.5 cm – Size 65.
