HOLY SEE / SPAIN – KNIGHT’S BICORNE HAT of the EQUESTRIAN ORDER of the HOLY SEPULCHRE of JERUSALEM ( * ) circa 1880 / 1900 – made of black felt with two horns, the tips finished with a 7-strand gold canetille. Entirely edged with a 4 cm wide gold passementerie braid featuring the motif of the Cross of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The front is adorned with a 9 cm red silk cockade and a double braid of 4 strands (2 twisted in the centre), 3 cm wide x 2, in gold thread. A chain links the two sides of the hat, fastened with two buttons featuring the Cross of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. - Lined in black leather and blue-grey fabric, with markings bearing the hatmaker’s name “Victor Moseno Major 4-24 MADRID” (on the fabric and embossed around the edge of the leather) – There is also a handwritten label on the base of the bicorne bearing the owner’s name: “De la Roiva Romero de Aragon”. In good condition in its original shaped cardboard transport box. Length: 42 cm – width: 17.5 cm – height: 17 cm.
