DECORATION - RARE LEGION OF HONOUR, KNIGHT, SECOND REPUBLIC, 31 December 1851 / 16 March 1852, Prince-President Louis Napoléon Bonaparte, later Napoléon III - Silver model, cross and crown - Standard model 43 x 61 mm - in the centre, five ball-tipped crosses, circular inscription ‘BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL 19 May 1802’; gold model featuring a small head surrounded by rays, with a movable crown above. Reverse: “HONOUR AND COUNTRY *”, imperial eagle with outstretched wings, standing on a cannon barrel. - As is often the case with this rare model, there is a lack of blue enamel and the tips are missing (photos).
