PHOTO, PORTRAIT of MARIE CHRISTINE FERDINANDE of BOURBON-SICILY, Queen of SPAIN (1829–1833), and, following the death of her husband King FERDINAND VII, whom she married in 1829, REGENENT OF SPAIN (1833–1840) of the future Queen ISABELLE II.
(Daughter of King Francis I of the Two Sicilies, born in Palermo in 1806, died in Le Havre in 1878).
Circa 1860 photograph by DISDERI, ‘photographer to His Majesty the Emperor’ in Paris. Full-length portrait, on paper mounted on card in visiting-card format (10 x 6.1 cm).
Note: during the Second Empire, it was fashionable amongst the nobility and the bourgeoisie to exchange small cards bearing one’s photograph, just as it was customary to purchase those of prominent figures. DISDERI is credited with launching this fashion.
