AUTOGRAPH / Gilbert RANDON ( * ) - PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPH, visiting-card size….USED AS A BUSINESS CARD – bromide print on card, 10.3 x 6.2 cm – circa 1880 - Front view of the head within an oval - on the reverse, an autograph inscription signed ‘G Randon’ within a circle: ‘To Mr Roch-Papillon / a friendly memento’. ( * ) Gilbert RANDON – born in Lyon on 9 October 1811, died in Paris on 30 March 1884 – lithographer, caricaturist, singer-songwriter, painter. A cousin of NADAR, he was invited by the latter to contribute to the *Journal pour rire*, then to the *Journal amusant*. Illustrator and author of numerous humorous books, including military caricatures, particularly from the Second Empire.
