BONE – ALGERIA – PHOTOGRAPHER: ATELIER PROD’HOM, circa 1880. ( * ). Full-length, front-facing portrait of Madame Camille POTHIN, née Labarre (caption on the reverse). Visiting-card-sized bromide, mounted on card, 10.5 x 6.4 cm. Advertisement for the photographer on the reverse, with text running around the edge in a banner-style layout: “A wide selection of Algerian views, including the thermal springs of Hammam – Mescoutine, the Tomb of St Augustine. Coastal seaports, Hippo, the Lion’s Rock and a vast and varied selection of indigenous figures, gourbis, etc.” ( * ) - PRODHOM Henri Jean, a pioneering photographer from Bône, born in La Chaud-de-Fond, Switzerland, in 1827, died in Bône in 1898.
